Multi Sensor Track (MST), X-Ray and CT Laboratory Vans

MARSSAM maintains two core scanning vans that can be placed on the deck of most ARF vessels during an expedition. Both vans contain GeoTek Standard Multi Sensor Core Loggers. One van also contains a Geotek VXCT CT core scanner while the other contains a JPI EXAMVue Duo EV14W portable x-ray system. The MST vans frequently accompany our jumbo piston coring system, with the physical properties data collected from whole rounds prior to splitting used for real-time verification of recovery, deformation as well as preliminary stratigraphic interpretation.

We cannot guarantee access to the vans for your expedition. We have two vans to accommodate overlapping demand and we occasionally need to make decisions about where to send the vans based on scientific need. If having one of the instruments is vital to your science, make sure to indicate that clearly in the MFP documentation.
