Vibracore

Vibracores (as the name suggests) advance a lined core barrel into the sediment using vibration. They are primarily used to sample sandy sediments that can’t be cored with gravity based coring devices. MARSSAM has an Alpine Ocean model P pneumatic vibracore capable of operating in up to 100m of water, obtaining 8 mm diameter cores up to 6 m in length.
